Musculoskeletal Assessment

presented by Mel Cash

Accreditation Check:
A majority of pain and injury stems from distorted posture or skeletal misalignment, and proper assessment of postural or skeletal issues plays a crucial role in your approach to treatment. This course teaches the therapist how to assess the common postural misalignments, which can contribute to injury and identify the muscle dysfunction associated with them. It also shows how to assess the range of movement in specific joints to consider the soft tissue component involved in an injury and determine when soft tissue therapy is appropriate.

Participants will assess the underlying neuromuscular and functional factors which can lead to a musculoskeletal injury. Finally, after watching this chapter participants will understand the need to encourage the client to carry out rehabilitation and corrective exercises.

  2. Postural and Skeletal Assessment

    2. Postural and Skeletal Assessment

In this chapter, the participant will be introduced to the common underlying postural factors that can lead to painful conditions in particular parts of the body. The participant will also learn to perform active and passive range of movement tests to determine whether joint pain is caused by a soft tissue problem, which can be treated, or an inner-joint structural problem, which should be referred.

  3. Assessment Application by Body Region

    3. Assessment Application by Body Region
